Overview: This is a 3-week sequence of planning aimed at year 5.

Pupils are immersed in the text through reading, discussion and speaking activities, before analysing the language, structure and features of non-fiction writing. They develop skills in vocabulary choice, sentence construction and organisation, including the use of descriptive language, punctuation and persuasive techniques. They then apply these skills to create a guide to India, producing a written information page on a chosen topic (e.g. food, festivals or culture) and a podcast, adapting their writing into a spoken format for an audience.
