A New Chapter for the Network

1st Oct 2026

Building on strong foundations: support, connection and a fresh perspective

We’re delighted to welcome Caroline Wood as SLN Manager. With extensive experience in primary education and school leadership, Caroline brings first-hand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing schools.

Before joining SLN, Caroline spent many years working in primary education, most recently as a headteacher, with particular responsibilities for English, Early Years and developing a strong reading culture. She understands first-hand both how rewarding this work can be and the challenges that come with it.

At SLN, we’re here to make that work more manageable by connecting members with colleagues, sharing practical resources and ensuring access to expert support and the latest guidance. Whether you’re leading literacy across a school or supporting it in the classroom, we want the network to be a valuable source of knowledge, inspiration and professional connection.

Over the coming months, we’ll be looking at how we can make it even easier for members to find the resources and expertise that will make the greatest difference in their schools.

This includes support with:

  • Subject leadership and monitoring
  • Reading for pleasure
  • Developing writing
  • Oracy
  • Assessment and moderation
  • Staff professional development

We’re excited about the year ahead and look forward to continuing our work with schools across the network. If you have thoughts, ideas or suggestions you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us to share your feedback.
