In this session, led by Into Film you’ll explore how stop motion animation can support literacy learning. By watching and analysing a range of animations, you’ll examine how stories are structured and how meaning is created through visual storytelling.
Using examples of claymation, silhouette, paper cutout and pixilation animations, we’ll explore narrative development, story planning and character design. You’ll see how creating animation can support key literacy skills such as sequencing, scriptwriting, descriptive language and collaboration.
You’ll also discover how easy it is to make stop-frame animations with children using devices such as iPads, smartphones or digital cameras and enhance them with free editing software.
