A national, charity‑led community for everyone involved in primary English teaching and learning. The School Literacy Network brings together trusted resources, planning tools, assessment support and expert guidance in one place.
Our team’s experience in English leadership and teaching means we understand the realities of the classroom, the planning pressures, the shifting guidance and the need for practical solutions that genuinely help.
Our resources give primary schools a reliable and current source of support for English teaching.
From planning tools and assessment support to practical classroom materials like our handwriting scheme, everything is designed to reduce workload, strengthen subject leadership and help every child build secure and joyful foundations in English.
As part of Libraries Unlimited, the School Literacy Network is rooted in a shared belief that learning, reading and access to knowledge can enrich lives and build communities. This purpose guides the support we provide for schools.
We believe that strong primary English teaching has the power to open doors for every child. Our support aims to widen opportunity, deepen confidence and help schools create a culture where literacy can thrive.
We connect schools with a rich mix of voices – from contributors such as Alex Quigley, author and Head of Content at the EEF, to our ongoing celebration of the latest and greatest authors, illustrators and poets.
This blend of research‑informed insight and creative inspiration continues to energise the network, with standout moments including our sessions with poet Matt Goodfellow and author‑illustrator Nick Sharratt.
